Blagojevich Sentenced hearing To 14 Years: Former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich apologized to his condition, his family and the judge, saying he is “incredibly sorry” during his sentencing hearing for Wednesday convictions for corruption.
“I had plenty of time to reflect on what happened,” said Blagojevich. “I’m here convicted of crimes and I accept it, recognize it.”
Blagojevich, a Democrat, was accused of trying to take advantage as he considered person to be appointed to succeed Barack Obama when he left his Senate seat to go to the White House.
“There is a line between the policy of routine political horse-trading and the country,” said Blagojevich. “I thought they were eligible and I was wrong.”
He was convicted of corruption in June after a jury returned 17 guilty verdicts against him.
Federal prosecutors are seeking a sentence of 15 to 20 years, but his lawyers have called that excessive and asked the judge for clemency on Tuesday, even as they admitted for the first time that crimes were committed.
“He asked for a job in return (for the seat of former U.S. Senate Barack Obama). That’s what he did at first. We agree that it is a crime,” Blagojevich attorney Sheldon Sorosky said, according to CNN affiliate WLS. “He did it and it should not have done (but) that crime does not require a prison sentence of 15 years.”

Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day 2011: Day ceremonies pearl harbor take place across the country Wednesday, but most have one common element: the nation will pause for a moment of silence at 7:55 Hawaii time – 9:55 or 24:55 in Los Angeles and New York – to mark the exact time that the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor without warning 70 years ago.
The National Park Service and Navy Region Hawaii will host the official ceremony to be held on the lawn of Pearl Harbor Visitors Center. The ceremony begins at 7:40 Hawaii time.
The survivors and World War II veterans will be among the thousands in attendance for the annual celebration. Seventy years may have passed, but the horrors of that day will never be forgotten.
PHOTOS: A date which will live in infamy
On December 7, 1941, taken by surprise attack America, killing 2,400 Americans, sinking 12 ships and 188 aircraft destroyed – and the onset of the U.S. entry into World War II. In fact, the U.S. declared war on Japan the next day, when President Franklin D. Roosevelt proclaimed the date of the attack as “a date which will live in infamy.”

Each year sees the dwindling ranks of survivors. But one of those present is 89 years, William Muehleib, who recalled being asleep in a tent when he was suddenly awakened. “I could see under the flaps of the tent Japanese aircraft bombs,” he said in an interview with the Los Angeles Times. “I could not believe it was happening.”
Remember Wednesday will include a special tribute to the Arizona battleship, which exploded and sank during the attack, killing more than 1,100 officers and men on board. The hull of the ship remains at the bottom of Pearl Harbor, marked by overloading USS Arizona Memorial.
Earlier this week, a burial ceremony was held for one of the survivors of the attack, Lee Soucy, recently died at the age of 90. He asked that his ashes be buried with those of his companions on board the USS Utah, another ship sank in the attack.
Wednesday’s ceremony will include military band music, the colors in the morning, a traditional Hawaiian blessing, a rifle salute by members of the armed forces and presentations crown.
And when the Japanese attack began 70 years ago, a moment of silence will be observed and theft of a “missing man” formation will streak overall
New planet Information Found: NASA announced an important milestone in the quest for life in the universe of Monday: The discovery of another planet close enough to the sun it orbits to possibly sustain life.
Called Kepler-22b, the planet is about 2.4 times the radius of the Earth and about 600 light-years. And it orbits in the “habitable zone”, the region of space just far enough from the star that liquid water could exist on the surface of the planet – a discovery could have profound implications in the search for extraterrestrial life, said Alan Boss, an astrophysicist with the Carnegie Melon University.
“This finding supports the growing conviction that we live in a universe filled with life,” Boss said. “Kepler is about to determine the actual abundance of habitable planets like Earth in our galaxy.”
The host star is located about 600 light years from us (1 light year is about 6 trillion miles) toward the constellation Lyra and Cygnus, the researchers said, and is about 25 percent less luminous than the Sun. Kepler-22b orbits the star every 290 days, compared to 365 days for the Earth at a distance of about 15 percent closer to its star than the Earth from the Sun – close enough to suggest a nice, mild temperatures to the surface.
Such a temperature means liquid water could exist on the surface of the planet, something necessary for life as we know – and this new world could be not only habitable but perhaps even inhabited.
“This is an important step towards finding Earth’s twin,” said Douglas Hudgins, Program Scientist at Headquarters Kepler at NASA in Washington. “The results of Kepler continue to demonstrate the importance of missions NASA scientists, aimed to address some of the biggest questions about our place in the universe.”
Interestingly, Kepler-22b was not photographed as implied. The discovery team, led by William Borucki of NASA Ames Center Research, examines the photometric data provided by the Kepler space telescope from NASA. They looked at the tiny dimming of starlight – dimming that can not be measured by a highly specialized space telescope as Kepler – which indicate that Earth-size transiting between us and a star.
Kepler requires at least three transits to check a signal such as a planet.
“Fortune smiles to the detection of this planet,” said William Borucki, Kepler principal investigator at NASA Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, Calif., who led the team that discovered Kepler-22b. ”
Of the 54 candidates planet habitable zone reported in February 2011, Kepler-22b is the first to be confirmed.
The stage will be published in an upcoming article in The Astrophysical Journal.

Kim Richards Checks Into Rehab Photos: And the troubles continue to mount for the “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” cast.
“RHoBH” cast member Kim Richards entered a rehab not to disclose to seek treatment, several sources confirm to ET Online.
Although it is unclear what affliction Richards, 47, is seeking treatment for his alcohol consumption has become a concern of the series. In the final “Beverly Hills” last season in January, Sister Richards, Kyle Richards, slammed his sister, accusing him of being an alcoholic. More recently, in an episode that aired in October, new castmates Richards, Brandi Glanville, accused Richards of being “wasted out of his mind f — ING”, a charge denied Richards at the time.

The second season of “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” which premiered in September, has already been marred by tragedy with the suicide of August cast members Russell Armstrong – one month his wife, Taylor Armstrong, filed for divorce – casting a shadow over the season.
Richardson lead Heisman finalists Heisman Finalists ,Luck ,Robert Griffin: The chance to Stanford Andrew is back in New York as a Heisman Trophy finalist, but not as the favorite.
That distinction belongs to Robert Griffin III Baylor.
The two quarters stars join fellow finalists Trent Richardson, Matthew and Tyrann Ball Ascent Heisman presentation Saturday night in Manhattan.

Luck is a finalist again this season, while Griffin is the first Baylor player to be invited to the ceremony. The school has never had a player of finishing fourth in the Heisman vote now appears to be the forerunner.
“I’m sure it will be a very close vote,” Griffin said in Waco, Texas, after seeing the ad with his teammates and coaches Monday.
Richardson is the second running back in Alabama to be a finalist in the last three years. Former teammate Mark Ingram won the Heisman in 2009.
Ball scored 38 touchdowns for Wisconsin and needs more to equal the NCAA record of Barry Sanders.
Mathieu, LSU defensive back nicknamed “Honey Badger” has made many plays that will change for the Tigers senior.
The land was deep this season and more deserving players have not made the cut. Boise State quart Kellen Moore, a finalist last season, Southern California quarterback Matt Barkley, and record the event from Keenum of Houston did not receive enough votes to be among the five finalists.
The ballots of the 926 voters, mostly members of the media and former winners, were due Monday.
Luck was the Heisman runner-up Cam Newton to Auburn last year and missed a chance to be the No. 1 draft pick in the NFL to return to Stanford for his junior season. From the moment he decided to stay in school in January, he became the favorite odds to win the big bronze statue.
The odds are looking to become Stanford second Heisman winner, quarterback Jim Plunkett to join, who won in 1970.
“It would mean a lot,” Luck said in an interview on ESPN. “I would say a good deal for the university. Mean a lot for me and a lot for the football program, as well.”
He had another stellar season, passing for 3,170 yards and 35 touchdowns while leading the Cardinal to a 11-1 record and a second straight BCS bid. But the competition was fierce and many contenders emerged.
Forecasters now have Griffin as the winner most likely.
Heismanpundit.com, which has successfully predicted the last four winners with a poll of 13 voters, Griffin had as its most votes on Monday. Luck was second and third Richardson.
Stiffarmtrophy.com, which compiles the votes of voters make their choice public and predicted the last nine winners, Griffin won by a comfortable margin on luck, with Richardson third.
Griffin led the nation in passer rating (192.3) with 3,998 yards and 36 affected. He also performed for 644 yards and nine touchdowns. And like Luck, Griffin led a program of long struggle for his biggest hit in decades. Baylor is 9-3 this season, his first win of the season’s new since 1986, including its first victory against Oklahoma.
“Baylor Nation we are here,” said Griffin. “Now we just try to pull it out. Hopefully the vote turns our way.
“Being invited is an honor. This is not what we want, but it is a place to start. ”
The best showing a Baylor player has been in the Heisman vote was Don Trull quarter of the fourth-place finish in 1963.
Richardson was the driving force for offensive undisputed No. 2 Alabama. It is the fifth in the nation in rushing at 131.9 yards per game and tied for fifth with 23 touchdown passes. Richardson and the Crimson Tide and LSU will meet Mathieu in the BCS Championship Game, January 9 in New Orleans.
The sophomore cornerback is the second defensive player to be Heisman finalist in the last three years. Defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh Nebraska was fourth in 2009.
Mathieu, however, is more like Charles Woodson, the do-it-all defensive back who won the 1997 Heisman to Michigan.
Mathieu forced five fumbles, intercepted two passes and scored four touchdowns, including two long punt returns for LSU last two games against Arkansas and Georgia.
He also was suspended for one game this season for violating the drug policy team.
Ball was hit by a machine to Wisconsin and fourth in rushing at 135.3 yards per game. He hit 12 more the next best player in the nation and if he can turn to two more in the Rose Bowl against Oregon, he will break the record for Sanders.

Tiger Woods ends Victory Drought 2 Years: Two years after his life and his career disintegrated, Tiger Woods is again a winner.

One shot behind with two holes to play, Woods finally looked like the player who dominated golf for much of his career. He birdied his last two holes Sunday, making a putt from 6 feet on September 18, to win the world challenge Chevron by one shot Zach Johnson, former champion of masters.
Woods closed with a 3-less than 69 years, sweeping his arm when the last putt fell, then slamming down his first in a festival that has been long coming. He was 749 days and 26 official tournaments since the last won on 15 November 2009 at the Australian Masters, when it looked as if he would rule golf until he played.

It was his 83rd victory everywhere in the world, and the fifth time, he captured the Chevron world challenge, which it hosts for its foundation. Woods finished at 10-under 278 and donated $ 1.2 million to its foundation.
The victory he moved from No. 52 No. 21 in the world ranking and probably send expectations soar for 2012. Woods will not play until beginning his year in Abu Dhabi, at the end of January.
Requested A emotion, if joyful, satisfactory or relief, simply Woods smiled and said, “it just feels awesome whatever it is.”.
He had an opponent worthy of Johnson, who had a One-Shot lead entering the final and towed round for only three holes. Johnson Woods tied with a birdie by-5 13, made unlikely by the 14 by shredding from the bottom of the green space and appeared to take a 12-foot birdie on the 16th hole putt by categories.
Johnson thought her 17 birdie putt was good all the way until it burned the edge of the Cup. Woods, short of time, drained his birdie putt to force a tie and send the tournament to the 18.
Woods has also was bound, on 18 September in Sherwood, it a year ago and stuffed his approach to 3 feet. Graeme McDowell perforated a 20-foot putt to force a playoff and beat Woods on the first extra hole.
Johnson, however, missed his 15-foot birdie putt, leave the scene to Woods. It has not been in these situations many over the past two years, but, finally, had a fine pet.
Johnson closed with a 71 and always takes home $ 650,000 for the holidays. Paul Casey, who opened with a 79, had his third tour directly in the 1960s to finish only third to 5 below.
“Tiger may have a long career,” Casey said when he finished. “We might look back in another 10 years and in fact to forget the past two years.”
Woods had a four-shot on McDowell advance a year, there is a margin that evaporate quickly when Woods showed early signs of struggle, especially with a pair of three rolls. No there is no evidence this time.
Despite nearly driving trouble right by-5 second, Woods escaped and hit the corner to 3 feet for birdie. His only bogey on the front nine came in the eighth by-3, with a right rear pin requires a fade. Woods made it well left of the green space and his land at a 45 degree angle was too strong and rolled in the fringe about 15 feet below.
Chip Johnson on the third was too strong, it has three-row about 35 feet for bogey on the fifth and he played a poor chip from the eighth green for another bogey.
They were attached to the turn when Woods began to draw by far. Right rough, Woods hit a wedge of soft sand which landed in the first cut short of the Green and fed on the slope to 4 feet. It has two-row of long range birdie 11 by 5 to stretch his lead to two shots when Johnson made a lie buried in the bunker.
Woods bogeyed 12 in a bunker, however, and Johnson birdie on the 13th set up a last hour which was to earn up to Woods was in the clutch, on the last two holes.
